• Cladophora is branching green filaments (dichotomy & trichotomy) (( brush like )) .it have reticulate chloroplast .
• It can be considered in two parts, a basal, rhizoidal branched (holdfast) attached to a substrate, and a caudal portion, with erect thalli branching out to form filamentous sheets .

Cladophora reproduces in two ways : sexually by gametes and asexually by zoospores; most species alternate methods each year; can live three or more years .
The only visible difference between the gametes and spores of Cladophora is that the gametes have two flagella and the spores have four .

• It can reproduce asexually by fragmentation .
• Species of Oedogonium are divided into two species according to
distribution of the sex organs:
1-Macrandous Species – In these species, antheridia are borne on filaments of normal size. This group is subdivided into:
Macrandous Monoecious : antheridia and oogonia are found on the same filament .
Macrandous Dioecious : antheridia and oogonia are borne on different filaments. Although filaments bearing antheridia and oogonia are morphologically similar, they differ physiologically .
2-Nannandrous Species : filaments bearing antheridia and oogonia , but male filament are much smaller than the female filament, is called a dwarf male. Nannandrous species are always dioecious
