External Features
A-Note the living toad :-
-General body colour (adaptive coloural)
-Absence of neck ( inherited character from fish like ancestor )
-Absence of tail (the toad belongs to the tail –less Amphibia –the Anura)
-Eyes are bulging (so can cover abigger area of the surrounding )
-Up and down movements of the floor of the buccal cavity (arespirator movement)
-Dishinguish the sexes by the colour of the subgular area black in male , white in female (secondary sexual character).
B- External the species and nots:-
Head :- triangular
• mouth :- wide and edentulous
• the external nares or nostrils
• the eyes :- each surrounded by two eyelids, an immovable upper ,and a semitransparent lower eyelid , formed of a lower eyelid proper and nictitating membrane .
• tympanic membrane
2- Trunk –divided into thorax and abdomen note the cloacal opening at the posterior and of the trunk .
3- Limbs :- two pairs , pentadactyle , built up on the same plan ; each consists of three regions :
Proximal ,Intermediate ,and Distal .
Note : found small digit on the hind limb called calcar .
Note : in the male only , the presence of the vocal sac

2-The urinogenital system :-
A-The urinary system
Identify the two kidneys
Note : abroad irregular yellow patch on the ventral surface of each kidney call (Adrenal gland) .
Identify urinary bladder .
B – The genital system :
1 – The male genital system :
Is formed of two testes , note that each of the two testes is connected anteriorly to a fat body .
2 – The female genital system :
Is formed of two ovaries and two oviducts . also noted the fat – bodies and bidder s organ .
