Information Security Plan for Diploma of Computer Science2018-2019

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to information security so that they can understand the security of contemporary systems and networks. The course includes several topics:
1. What is information security, new threats, important challenges in security, popular security models, security goals and security attacks.
2. The basic and important concepts of information security including security’s services, mechanism and techniques.
3. Traditional cryptosystems based on substitution and transposition and explain the cryptanalytic attacks.
4. Fundamental of block ciphers and widely used block cipher (DES). Also, the fundamental of stream ciphers, pseudo-number generators and widely used stream ciphers algorithms (RC4, RC5).
5. An important principle public key crypto-system and widely used system called RSA.
6. Overview of the digital steganography and explain the main differences between steganography and cryptography.
7. The steganography terminologies and methods according to some fundamental categories: cover, type, embedding domain, embedding and extraction approaches.
8. Essential requirements to evaluate the strength as well as the drawbacks of the steganography methods such as imperceptibility, capacity, security and robustness.
9. The most applications of steganography, and steganalysis science with main approaches.
10. Drawbacks and benefits associated with steganography, cryptography and combining the steganography and cryptography.
