Class: Coelomycetes
Coelomycetes form their
conidia in enclosed conidiomata , Conidial fungi where the conidia are formed
within a cavity lined by fungal or host tissue. The fruiting body may be
flask-like structure with an apical openig
(pynidia) which is usually black and look like a small perithecium or saucer
shaped (acervuli) a flat, open bed of generally short conidiophores growing
side by side and arising from a more or less stromatic mass of hyphae. Members
of this class causing many important diseases of crop plants.
Order: Sphaeropsidales
Oder: MELANCONIALES
Colletotrichum sp.
anthracnose (Circular or angular sunken lesions develop on immature
fruit of any size) in peppers and many other vegetables and fruits.
