Databases are at the heart of modern commercial application development. Their use extends beyond this to many applications and environments where large amounts of data must be stored for efficient update and retrieval. This course covers the design and implementation of parallel and distributed databases with a focus on data distribution, transaction processing, concurrency control and recovery.

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
1- Explain distributed database and distributed processing.
2- Define the basic terms in distributed database management systems.

3- Present characteristics of DDBMS and centralized DBMS.
4- Classify database.
5- Give a features of transparency.
6- Determine distributed requests and distributed transaction.
7- Present concurrency and protocols.
8- Explain transparency and query optimization.
9- Analyze data fragmentation.
10-Explain the concept of Replication.
11-define the concept of Allocation.
12- Learn Business intelligence is comprehensive framework to support business decision making.
13- Explain a data warehouse, how to prepare data fore one, and how to implement one.
