Preterm premature rupture of membrane: It s rupture of amniotic membranes away from term.
Incidence:
It occurs in 2% of all pregnancies.
Complications:
-chorioamnionitis
-cord prolapse.
Diagnosis: History:
Sudden onset watery vaginal discharge.
On exam:
PR,Temp.,RR,BP. For any signs of chorioamnionitis
Obestet.exam
Investigations:
CRP.
H.V.S
U/S:
For viability,gestational age,any anomalies,the lie ,amount of liquor,placental localization.
Management:
We have two options:
Termination of pregnancy;
When there s signs and symptoms of chorioamnionitis.
Fetal death ,fetal anomalies.
Complicated pregnancy
Advanced labour
Conservative management; shouid include surveillance for signs of chorioamnionitis.
Antibiotics cover.
