Objectives:
By the end of this lab students are expected to be able to identify the following structures:
A- Surfaces of the Heart
1. Sternocostal (anterior)
2. Diaphragmatic (inferior)
3. Base (posterior)
4. Apex
B- Chambers of the heart
1. Right atrium (and right auricle)
2. Right ventricle (and infundibulum)
3. Left atrium (and left auricle)
4. Left ventricle
C- External features
1. Atrioventricular groove
2. Interventricular groove (anterior and posterior)
F- Vessels entering/leaving the heart
? Right atrium:
1. Superior vena cava
2. Inferior vena cava
? Right ventricle:
1. Pulmonary artery
? Left atrium:
1. Right pulmonary veins (upper & lower)
2. Left pulmonary veins (upper & lower)
? Left ventricle
1. Aorta
D- Internal features
? Right atrium:
1. Interatrial septum
2. Musculi pectinate
3. Opening of superior vena cava
4. Opening of inferior vena cava
5. Opening of coronary sinus
6. Opening into tricuspid valve
? Right ventricle:
1. Interventricular septum
2. Papillary muscles
3. Chordae tendineae
4. Tricuspid valve
5. Pulmonary valve
