The atomic packing factor [A.P.F]: It can be defined as the ratio between the volume of the basic atoms of the unit cell (which represent the volume of all atoms in one unit cell ) to the volume of the unit cell it self. For cubic crystals, there is one constant to be quoted. The unit cell constant of pure metal crystals can be directly related to the atomic diameter of the element as below:- 1.
