Is the process of influencing the individual and group activities toward goal setting and achievement.
The process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation while operating to accomplish the mission and improving the organization.
definition of leadership as a point of separation for group cooperation to Bednash’s (2003) assertion that “leadership is a vital component of change,”
رThe great man theory argues that a few people are born with necessary characteristics to be great

Trait theories maintained that traits are inherited

Leader traits such as: Intellectual social, emotional, physical & personal make up.

However; studies suggest that, good traits alone can not assure effective leadership.

Advantages:
May help motivation and involvement
Workers feel ownership of the firm and its ideas
Improves the sharing of ideas and experiences within the business
Disadvantages
Can delay decision making

Cannot be used in emergency
Some employees try to by pass their managersIt assume that individuals are motivated by external forces, such as power and authority.
Leader makes decisions without reference to anyone else
High degree of dependency on the leader
Can create de-motivation and alienation of staff
May be valuable in some types of business where decisions need to be made quickly and decisively (crisis or emergency)
