Healing  :“It is the process of recovery in which the body replaces the damaged or lost tissue by new healthy tissues. Rendering healing service to help people become well and whole. The difference between “healing” and “curing”: Curing: the alleviation of symptoms or the termination or suppression of a disease process through surgical, chemical or mechanical intervention Healing: may be spontaneous but more often it’s a gradual awakening to a deeper sense of self (and of the self in relation to others) in a way that effects profound change. Healing comes from within and is consistent with a person s own readiness to grown and to change. Healing is the integration of self. People move from a sense of brokenness to a sense of wholeness. What healing is… Obtaining the grace & strength to accept God’s will and see the blessings out of our trial & suffering. It is saying “Yes” to God’s will for us. It is not God granting what we ask for in our own terms. Healing: Physiological healing is the restoration of damaged living tissue to normal function. It is the process by which the cells in the body regenerate and repair to reduce the size of a damaged or necrotic area. Healing incorporates both the removal of necrotic tissue (demolition), and the replacement of this tissue. The replacement can happen in two ways: · by regeneration: the necrotic cells are replaced by the same tissue as was originally there. · by repair: injured tissue is replaced with scar tissue. Most organs will heal using a mixture of both mechanisms. Regeneration: • In order for an injury to be healed by regeneration, the cell type that was destroyed must be able to replicate. Most cells have this ability, although it is believed that cardiac muscle cells and neurons are two important exceptions Repair: • Healing must happen by repair in the case of injury to cells that are unable to regenerate (e.g. cardiac muscle or neurons). Also, damage to the collagen network (e.g. by enzymes or physical destruction), or its total collapse (as can happen in an infarct) cause healing to take place by repair . Holistic Healing: means healing of the BODY physical healing MIND mental & psychological EMOTIONS emotional & psychological SPIRIT spiritual/deliverance POCKET financial The sickness in one aspect causes sickness in the other aspects. Likewise, the healing of one aspect, affects the healing of the others. Kinds of Healing: 1. PHYSICAL : Deals with physical afflictions both inside and outside one’s body. 2. PSYCHOLOGICAL : Deals with the mind and the emotions a. Mind – involves the mental state, negative thoughts and attitudes, mental disorders and other related cases b. Emotions – involves feelings of anger, hatred, fears, worries, anxieties, tensions, depressions, hurts, resentments, guilt feelings and others. Also called “inner healing”. 3. Spiritual – deals with our relationship with God, our prayer life, repentance, reconciliation. 4. Deliverance – involves the casting out of evil spirits from a person, place or thing, or being delivered from demonic influence, oppression, obsession and possession. 5. Financial – involves the healing of one’s finances, setting free from poverty and debts or financial uplifting. ROOT CAUSES OF SICKNESS: · NATURAL CAUSES governed by law of nature (inherited illnesses, diet, environment, lifestyle) - treated by natural healing process (medicines, drugs, herbs, scientific means, therapeutic techniques) - healed by prayers for healing. · SUPERNATURAL CAUSES governed by law of the supernatural in the spiritual. (roots: sin, works and machinations of evil forces, redemptive suffering) Spiritual Needs: According to Fish and Shelly (1978) there are three spiritual needs underlying all religious traditions and common to all people: · Need for meaning and purpose · Need for love and relatedness · Need for forgiveness Spiritual Care: Care that enables individuals to meet basic spiritual needs: · need for meaning and purpose, · need for love and relatedness, and · need for forgiveness PSYCHO-NEURO IMMUNOLOGY (P.N.I.) A science that studies how the brain sends messages to the nerves and other organs of the body through chemicals. These chemicals can either build up or weaken our immune system. Importance of Inner Healing: Four core emotions that trigger physical sicknesses from upset stomach to cancer and heart attack. Fear Antidote -- Faith Anxiety Antidote – Faith Anger Antidote – Forgiveness Guilt Antidote – Repentance If buried, these lead to EMOTIONAL INSTABILITY & EMOTIONAL STRESS. The immune system is lowered and this leads to PHYSICAL ILLNESSES (Most often: Heart Disease & Cancer). Ways of Healing: · MENTAL & EMOTIONAL • Psychological & Spiritual Counselling • Sharing your pain with a trusted friend • Reading healing books, attending seminars & retreats to correct wrong attitudes in coping with trials. • Engaging in activities that lift up your mental and emotional state PSYCHOTHERAPY & OTHER WAYS OF HEALING · Other Ways of Healing: • Healing through Proper Nutrition & Exercise • Healing through Alternative Medicine • Healing through Nature • Healing through Laughter • Healing through Music • Healing through Art Expression • Healing through Dance Expression • Healing through Service to Others • Healing through Finding Purpose in Life • Healing through Forgiveness · PSYCHOTHERAPY PROCESS: • Healing of Memories • Go back and get in touch with a memory of an emotionally stressful hurt that may have occurred between 6-18 months before the cancer. • Have the Right Attitude: • Change what you can change in the uncovered stressful situation. View from a different perspective what cannot be changed. • As you work through anger and guilt through Inner Healing, specifically Healing of Memories, and as you experience forgiveness and repentance (the keys to inner healing) you can help your body in the restoration of the normal process in disposing of your cancer cells. Any moment can be a GIFT… Any moment in our lives may be taken in two ways: • a blessing for growth or • a curse that cripples Dr. Saja Hashem
