Adjectives and Pronouns

1.   Demonstrative Adjectives and pronouns

  The forms this , these , that and those may be used either as adjectives or as pronouns . As adjectives they are the only ones that agree with their nouns , and they do so only in number . In order to function as adjectives they have to be followed by nouns or by adjectives / modifiers plus nouns ; otherwise they function as pronouns .

  e.g.

  This house is new .(adj. –sing .)

   I want that new book .( adj. –sing .)

   These men are workers .( adj. –sing .)

   All those white house are for sale .( adj. –sing .)
