The pronunciation of (3 rd) person singular ending

The ending is pronounced (is) when the verb ends with one of the following sounds{s, z, d3, 3, ts, s}

e.g

passes        roses                 pushes

rouges        catches             pledges.

The ending is pronounced (s) when the verb ends with a voiceless consonant.

e.g

asks             beats                 hopes.

The ending is pronounced (z) in all other  cases.
