Written tests
They are standardized psychological tests with a diagnostic and predictive value, they measure the applicant s behaviour and aptitudes comparing them with that of the population they belong to according to age, sex, etc.
Usually two types of aptitude tests are used, of intelligence and aptitude.
Intelligence test:
These tests measure the general ability to solve abstract problems and are considered the most reliable predictor of a person´s learning potential.
Aptitude test:
They evaluate the necessary abilities to undertake specific tasks and among the most used are those of verbal and numeric aptitude, abstract reasoning, attention, memory, space perception...
Personality tests
These are tests which analyse the character or temperament of a person (emotional stability, extrovert personality, self-confidence, independence, sociability, self-control, leadership qualities ...) and which are used as predictor of their behaviour in the job position.
Specific tests
They are used to get data about the degree of knowledges and abilities acquired in relevant areas for a specific job (computing, administrative tasks, commercial ability, languages, accounting, etc.).
They can consist of practical exercises or tests. The objective is evaluating if you possess the minimum knowledge to be proficient in a specific position.
