Poetry

Poetry, is an expression of thoughts and feelings through language more or less rhythmic form.It is like having a telescope that sees directly into the minds of people around the globe and across the timeline of history. It is a time travel machine. Poetry will be more understood if the poetic devices are known. Poetic devices are literary techniques that poets use to make their work more creative, descriptive and attractive. The poetic devices include imagery, assonance, alliteration, pun, simile, metaphor and other forms of figurative language.
Students are expected to Identify poetic devices and Determine the purpose of poetic devices as either emphasizing meaning or the sound of words. The students are required to participate in all class discussions, which will be best and most fruitfully achieved by their prior study of the poems.
