No, none

No is an adjective ; therefore , it is always used before nouns . it shows that the thing / person named does not exist . None , on the other hand , is a pronoun ; thereore , it is never used before a noun . it means "not ( even ) one " .

e.g.

There is no water in the stream .

I have some friends in London but you have none .

No person in his right state of mind would believe this .

None  o my friends smoke(s) .

Note: Thought it is common to use a singular verb after the noun phrase above on the grounds that the verb should agree with none , it is also possible to use a plural verb which would agree with the noun in the phrase , friends , in the phrase above .

 a little , a few

These forms refer to small quantities and numbers  respectively . A little is used before uncountable nouns while a few is used before plurals .

e.g.

I need a little help .

Would you like a little ice-cream ?

Could you wait or a few minutes , please ?

Take a few of the chocolates .

When used without the indefinite article , these forms imply a negative sense , i.e. the quantity or the number is not enough or less than nessary .

e.g.

There are a few trees in our garden .(some)

There are few trees in our garden . (not many)

I have a little money . (some)

I have little money . (not much)

many , much , lots of , a lot of

These forms imply large numbers or quantities .Many is used before plurals in affirmative and negative statements and in questions . Much is used before uncountable nouns in questions and negatives .Lots of and a lot of (same  mean-ing) are used before plurals and uncountable nouns in affirmative statements and in questions . In other words , a lot of/lots of is preferred to much in affirmative statements while it is not used in negative statements. A lot of/lots of is also more usual than many in affirmative statements .

e.g.

I have many friends . (I have a lot of friends .) (more usual.)

We don’t have many options left .

Does she have many books ?

The job doesn’t require much effort .

Iraq is consume a lot of tea .

A lot of/lots of money is spent on education every year .

Do you have a lot of trouble with your car ?

Much and many can be used as pronouns , but only if the nouns they refer to are mentioned in advance .

e.g.

No matter how much money he earns there is not much left at the end of the month .

I have a lot of  friends , but you don’t have many .

Much , many , a few , and a little are followed by of when are nouns they modify are preceded by the , this , these , or a possessive .

e.g.

he spends a little of his money on books .

many of my friends have bicycles .

a few of the lazy students succeed .

she doesn’t use much of the butter she produces .
