B./ Language is systematic and learnable;

Every language is systematic and has a discoverable grammar, While the student learning a language is not properly interested in matter of refined linguistic theory, he should nevertheless have this truth brought home to him continuously, more by example than by precept , throughout his contact with the language.

Since language is a system , teaching should aim at enabling learners to "internalized " that system. This should not be interpreted to mean that our aim should be the teaching of rules of grammar. Rather, it is believed that purposeful drills on language items that are regular, i.e, in which the patterns are manifested, result in mastery of the system.

C./ Language is a means of communication;

A language is just one kind of tool used for communication among people. Other tools include sign language, facial expression, the use of flags, some signals and light signals.

The language can be considered the most important tool of communication, but nevertheless, it is only tool amongst many. There is nothing sacred about language which distinguished it from other tools used by any group of people. As such, a certain language is better suited to express the needs of its speakers than any other language . This leads to the following conclusions.

1. There are no superior language.

2. Since language is a tool of communication, language symbols
are best understood in their cultural contexts.

3. Language demands acquaintance.
