True / False Items

True / False Items are widely used in reading comprehension tests. The scoring of this type of test is straightforward and quick. They are reliable when :
a. they are well constructed , and
b. when there are enough of them

Instructions
Write T in the square if you find the statement true and write F if you find it false. The first one is done for you.

2. Arab unity will help higher education in the region.
3. Solid geometry deals with length and width.
4.The ancient Egyptians used hieroglyphic writing.
5.Arthur had a long face that morning because he received bills.
6.A deposit account allows people to draw out the money without giving the bank prior notice
7.Many people nowadays keep large sums of money in cash.
8.Many revolutionary movements in the Third World suffer from stagnation after a period of time.

9.Tatanus is a harmless disease.
10. Lift a burned limb to prevent further swelling.

However , True / False items have two disadvantages :
1. They encourage guessing.
2. They fail to discriminate among the testees unless there are a lot of items in the test.

To remedy the weakness of the True / False items it is possible to provide the testees with false items which they are then asked to correct.
