Vowel Sounds

English vowels can be divided into two groups ; long and short. Long vowels are marked by two dots (:), and they are longer than short vowels  stressed or unstressed, followed by voiceless or voiced consonants.

Short Vowels;  /i/,  /e/,  /a/,  /o/,  /u/,

Long Vowels;  /i:/,  /a:/,  /o:/,  /u:/, 

pronunciation they remain constant and do not glide to other vowels.

    We shall deal with  the pure vowels and the letters that represent them  sounds with one another. The best way to learn these vowel sounds is through listening and imitating them
