Situational Dialogues
This text book is concerned with situational dialogues that are derived from real life. To deal with such situations, one has to imagine him/her self in such situations and practice them as if they are his/her. Since the situations look real, the students will not suffer in suggesting similar ones related to their life. This is not the only thing concerning this activity, but there are certain procedures to approach real life situations as well as certain classification. To approach the first three chapters of this textbook, we can say that there are certain points have to be recognized well. The first situation is about "Asking the Way". This topic is as real as the daily life activities because we always pass through such a situation and ask about the way all the time. Here, we have different places to be identified as well as different directions and responses. In taking the first four roles, we can see that there are different ways for highly request to ask bout some thing. So, after "Excuse me" we have malty ways to give an offer like can you tell me where south Street is, please? , Could you tell me the way to the station? , but I m trying to find the Town Hall. And , Could you tell me how to get to the Town center?. On the other hand, we can find different responses which are of highly formal form like, Take the second on the left and then ask again, Turn round and turn left at the traffic lights, Take the third on the right and go straight on, and First right, second left. You can t miss it. This can be viewed in the following requests as well as responses. The two following chapters are concerned with the same way of presenting a need as well as responding to such a need. The rest chapters are designed within the same way to increase the students ability in using different expression to achieve the students need.
