To approach the four situations here
nine, ten, eleven and twelve of this textbook, we can say that there are
certain points have to be recognized well. We have two levels here taking food
and taking something to drink. Each level contains two points a restaurant or a
café or home. As far as situation number nine is concerned, we have an
atmosphere that deals with what is about "At Lunch". This topic is as
real as the daily life activities because we always pass through such a
situation and ask about the way all the time. Here, we have different requests have to be identified as well as
different responses. What specifies this
situation is that it talks about food especially at lunch time but the place is
not the restaurant. In taking the first four roles, we can see that there are
different ways for highly request to ask bout same thing i.e. to urge some one
to eat more or to take some kind of food. So, after "You must have some
more chicken, Wouldn t you like to finish up the omelette?, Another piece of
meat pie and Do have the rest of the mashed potato?". On the other hand,
we can find different responses which are of highly formal form like, "No,
thanks. I m supposed to be slimming., No, really thank you. I just couldn t any
more., No, thanks, really. I m on a diet. and No, thank you. I ve had too much
already." This can be viewed in the following requests as well as
responses.
