This directorate has been opened to create sportsmanship ,and cultural environment to be as one of the factors to attract the students to the university and
on the other side to facilitate the way to develop their talents in these fields. All these factors will help the student to improve their academic level.
The directorate include ; Stadium , closed-athletic hall, Gallery, Handicraft workshop, Hand tools, chess club, Arabic Calligraphy Association, Islamic manuscript University's Library, Studio.
Moreover to these activities , it is also responsible of arranging the athletic conferences , meeting inside the university and outside the university and outside Iraq.
The directorate is the responsible of making all the arrangement of the athletic and artistic festivals and conferences in the university ,
with cooperation of the sub-units of the directorate that found in the colleges, in order to fulfill its aims.
Also the directorate has its role in supporting sport and university's athletic through participating in all games ,
and athletic championship in Iraq, in addition to these things it has been hosted, and hosts many festivals and provides and championship ,
facilities and provides the circumstance to show students' talents and power.

The Duties of the Sections In the Directorate:-
- Department of Athletic Education:-
Forms New teams or university's team – Arranging the circumstances to make many championship in the university and the departments of colleges.
Training these teams to be able in participating in many championship inside and outside Iraq. This department has a unique section in each college has the role to form a colleges teams ,
train them and make local championships.
- Department of Dramatic culture:-
The main aim of this section is to develop students talents in Drama and art,
in general, write plays – act….
Moreover to train them to be able to participate in festivals and make many championship such as Holly Quran Oratory Festivals.
- Department of Artistic Education:-
The basic aims of this department are training the students. To be able to
Be in some how professional in art, like painting calligraphy- Islamic
Manuscript. This will fulfill through training and studying. Developing their talents in this field. In addition the department has many plans to form many festivals and championship in Art.
More over each college in the university has an artistic unit.
- The Administrative unit:-
This unit has many duties such as mange's the staff affair-save fills –completes the financial matters etc.
