Aim of postgraduate studies dept.

Postgraduate studies dept. works to get high scientific level in the country and provides all ministries in Iraq with scientific professional staff in different fields to develop scientific standard of the country.

Functions of Dept.

• Making the acceptances' plans to postgraduate studies in different specialties and different degrees.
• Generalization of the instructions rules of postgraduate studies which are made by ministry of higher education and scientific research to introduce postgraduate studies for all colleges.
• Fitting the plans of acceptance for all channels and checking them out ,then sending them to the ministry of higher education and popularizing them to the colleges.
• Assent the starting of all postgraduate studies students and checking the study leave for the officials of them .
• Assent the extensions of the study of students and also exception extensions for them.
• Issue all the head letters which help the postgraduate studies' students in their mission of study by addressing them to all offices or directorates which relate with the researches of students.
• Canvass thesis and dissertations for the postgraduate studies' students and ordering them to follow the instructions of postgraduate studies by matching between their previous field and the new one which they are studying recently.
• Issue the university acts for the students whom they have graduated after their documents have been checked by the dept.
• Creating new postgraduate studies in different fields according to the capacity of university and needing of country. 10. Answering all the head letters which related with rectitude after they have been checked by the department .
• Cooperation between other Iraqi universities by accepting the students of Babylon university in these universities whenever their fields unavailable in Babylon university and vice versa.

Duties

First duty:

• Generalization the instructions which have been issued by ministry of higher education to all colleges.
• United all the answers of the colleges.
• Sending acceptance's plan to ministry to get verification of it.
• acceptance's plan of postgraduate studies on the website of university of Babylon.

Second duty:

• Receiving rules and instructions for submitting for postgraduate studies in different degrees(master and Ph. D)in all fields which were sending from Ministry of Higher Education ,Directorate of Development and Research.
• Informing all the colleges with rules or instructions which have been sent from the ministry of higher education.

Third duty:

• Preparing the system of acceptance When the ministry of higher education was pointing the entrance exam's date then mechanism of rules will be formed as follow:
• Knowing the number of candidates according to their different disciplines.
• setting up exam's halls and exam's teachers according to number of candidates.
• Receiving the results of entrance exam. • Rating the pass candidates and reserves according to the results.
